In view of the rising number of Covid cases across the country, including Punjab, Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh on Monday ordered strict actions which would come into effect from tomorrow due to Punjab Government issues strict Guidelines as COVID-19 cases.

The curfew has been extended from 8 pm to 5 am and all bars, cinema halls, gyms, spas, coaching centers, sports complexes will be closed and restaurants and hotels will be closed from Monday to Saturday. Only home delivery of food is allow.

Gatherings of more than 20 persons including marriages / cremations have been banned in the entire state and prior approval of the district administration has been made mandatory for all gatherings of more than 10 persons except for cremation.
The Chief Minister announced that these new restrictions, including closing all goods, shops and markets on Sundays, would remain in force till April 30, including the previous restrictions.

The Chief Minister also directed the Police Department to strictly enforce these restrictions and seek the help of civil society organizations if required. Orders have also been issued to close all weekly markets.

The Chief Minister directed the Transport Department to keep the capacity of buses / taxis and autos at 50 per cent capacity. Regarding the check of passengers arriving in the state, the Chief Minister directed that Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) check booths should be set up at the bus stands and railway stations and all the passengers should be checked. All eligible persons should also be vaccinated.

The Chief Minister also directed that the recruitment examination of Patwaris should be postponed and directed the Medical Education Department to ensure that the MBBS / BDS / BAMS Conduct online examination for first, second and third year and first year nursing students.

Reviewing the situation in private and government hospitals, the Chief Minister directed that 75 per cent reservation should be maintained in L-3 level facilities for Covid in all the private hospitals providing sensitive level care and assistance related to Covid.

He further said that no selective operation should be performed in any government or private hospital till May 15 and all OPDs should be operated. In addition to screening patients, they should be encourage to be vaccinated.
