Raju Srivastav, who died on Sunday aged 58, was one of India’s most popular stand-up comedians.

Srivastav, who was known for his mimicry and observational humor, found fame through his appearances on the hugely popular comedy show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.

He was also a regular fixture on the comedy circuit, and had his own show, Raju Srivastav Ka Show, on STAR Plus.

Known for his gentle, good-natured humor, Srivastav was a much-loved figure in the Indian entertainment industry.

Tributes have poured in for the comedian, with many of his fellow comedians and actors taking to social media to express their sadness at his death.

“Raju Srivastav was not just a comedian but an Politician also. He was the pioneer of stand-up comedy in India and his contribution to the industry is immense,” said actor and comedian Sunil Pal.

“He was an amazing person and an even better comedian. His death is a great loss to the industry,” said actor and comedian Paresh Rawal.
